Bright Horizons Leases Space at Seaport District’s World Trade Center West print

Leading Child Care Company to Provide Full-Time and Back-Up Child Care Services to
Area Business Community

BOSTON, July 30, 2003 – Pembroke Real Estate and The Drew Company today announced that Bright Horizons Family Solutions will open a child care facility August 11, 2003 at the World Trade Center West in the South Boston Seaport District.

Bright Horizons at Seaport will offer area employers and employees flexible full-time and back-up child care arrangements. The new facility, located in 4,944 square feet of space in the podium area of the complex, has the capacity to serve more than 40 children at a time and will offer services including conference care and school vacation programs.

World Trade Center West, a 17-story building that encompasses 573,000 square feet of Class A office and retail space, is a joint development of Pembroke Real Estate and The Drew Company.   The child care center is in the low-rise podium of the building and offers an outdoor playground that is unique to urban child care centers.  The space was specifically created by Bright Horizons’ in-house architectural team Horizons Design and Miller Design to provide a high-quality learning environment for children from infants to 12 years old.

“Work-site services are becoming increasingly important to working families, who are constantly on the go,” said Peter Madsen, managing director of Pembroke Real Estate, a unit of Fidelity Investments.  “Bright Horizons will provide a well-respected convenient child care solution to tenants of the World Trade Center Complex and surrounding businesses.”

World Trade Center West is currently 75 percent leased with tenants including prominent Boston law firms Foley Hoag, LLP and Nutter, McClennen & Fish, LLP, and banking services provider Boston Private Bank.

“Parents working in Boston, and particularly in the Seaport District, clearly need more high-quality child care that is accessible and convenient,” said David Lissy, CEO, Bright Horizons Family Solutions. “Bright Horizons at Seaport provides an important solution for these employees. Further, it will help companies reduce absenteeism and increase productivity by meeting a critical need for their employees. At the same time, the center provides a secure, nurturing and dynamic environment for children to grow, learn and explore.”

The World Trade Center West and World Trade Center East office towers, along with the World Trade Center Boston and Seaport Hotel, make up the World Trade Center Complex, a unique mixed-use development, which is home to more than 6,000 workers.  The complex is ideally situated adjacent to the entrance to the Ted Williams Tunnel, which provides direct access to Logan International Airport, and along the route of the Massachusetts Turnpike extension that offers commuters from south and west of Boston direct connections to the Seaport District.

“We welcome Bright Horizons to the World Trade Center Complex and are especially pleased that the Seaport District community now has access to such high-quality child care services,” added John Drew, president of The Drew Company.
