4 Cannon Street wins Contribution to Context Award

We’re proud to announce that 4 Cannon Street has won the Contribution to Context Award at the City of London Building of the Year Awards 2021.

Designed by PLP Architecture and delivered by Pembroke on behalf of Fidelity International, the 106,000 sq ft office development occupies a prominent position adjacent to heritage landmark, St Paul’s Cathedral, in the heart of the City of London.

In a special award created for this year’s City of London Building of the Year Awards, 4 Cannon Street was praised by the judging panel for its sensitive design which complements its neighbouring buildings, while the sunken public garden, complete with a sculpture and water wall, as well as the garden space on the panoramic roof terrace was seen as “a delightful addition to the patchwork quilt of garden spaces across the City of London”.

Nick Moldon, Senior Vice President, Head of UK and Germany said: “As city specialists, we bring our global perspective to reimagining future workspaces that make meaningful contributions to city life. 4 Cannon Street is a prime example of our strategy in action where we saw an opportunity to enrich the local area by providing a stunning new public space, bringing new life to Cannon Street and within stone’s throw from the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral.

“It is an honour to receive such a prestigious award for one of our flagship London office buildings. We would like to thank the team at PLP Architecture for their high-quality design in creating 4 Cannon Street as one of the City of London’s standout buildings.”

4 Cannon Street was let in its entirety to global investment and retirement savings business Fidelity International, which moved into the building in July 2019.

The Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects is a modern Livery Company. The Company promotes quality architecture in the City of London and the architectural profession globally; it supports education through awards and prizes as well as a range of charities related to the City. The judges for this year’s City of London Building of the Year awards include Peter Murray OBE, Philip Cooper, Chris Dyson, Sonal Jain, Mike Stiff, Chris Williamson and chaired by Paul Finch. A total of ten new buildings were considered for the prestigious awards.

Congratulations to all the winners at the City of London Building of the Year Awards 2021.
